Last Chance: 'SNOOPY!!!” In Memory of Courtney Elyse Beauchesne
Two performances of the kid-friendly musical today at MVMMS.
Hundreds of events are posted on Melrose Patch each week, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed? Each week Melrose Patch will give you a quick reminder about an event, an important sign-up, or a looming deadline you won't want to forget.
:
Courtney Beauchesne passed away in 2007 at the age of 9, after a courageous battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy-Type 2, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of her classmates, through this production and in the MHS scholarship fund set up in her memory.

The public is invited to two performances of the musical “SNOOPY!!!” at 3 and 8 p.m. on Monday, June 11, in the Performing Arts Center at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. This kid-friendly classic tells the story of the fabled cartoon character and his human friends. Tickets are available before the show online (visit MelroseDrama.com) and at downtown locations (Hourglass Gifts--458 Main St., Nicolo Hair Salon--79 Franklin St., and Madison Ave. of Melrose--523 Main St.), and at the Box Office one hour prior to each show: Adults $10, Children and Seniors $5.
The 8th grade tribute to Courtney is a true team effort. From set design to musical direction, and of course talented dancers, singers, and actors onstage, every aspect of “SNOOPY!!!” is student led by members of the 2012 MVMMS graduating class and supported by drama enthusiasts in the 6th and 7th grades.

In recognition of Courtney’s incredible spirit, her parents, Mark E. and Meredith L. (Tibbetts) Beauchesne, have established The Courtney Elyse Beauchesne Memorial scholarship, as part of the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund. A member of the MHS class of 2016 (Courtney’s class) will be the first recipient of this special new scholarship. Donations (make checks payable to the Fund) can be mailed to P.O. BOX 760695, Melrose, MA 02176-0004, and will also be collected the day of the performance at the Box Office, and during intermission by cast and crew members.
