Knife-Wielding Saugus Man Charged With Attempted Murder: Police
Police said they used a "bean bag" projectile to subdue the Jacob Bonia Monday night.
SAUGUS, MA — A knife-wielding Saugus man who was brought down with a bean bag gun has been charged attempted murder, police said.
Jacob Bonia, 25, was arrested Monday night when police responded to a disturbance on Woodbury Avenue.
Bonia was walking out of a building with a knife when officers arrived, according to Interim Saugus Police Chief Ron Giorgetti. Attempts to de-escalate the situation and have the man drop the knife were unsuccessful, so an officer shot a bean bag.
