Medeiros Officially On Ballot This Fall

The state representative candidate submitted the required signatures to the Secretary of State's office.

Monica Medeiros, a Republican candidate for the state representative seat representing Melrose and four Wakefield precincts, announced this morning in a press release that the Secretary of State's Office has certified her submitted signatures and that she will officially appear on the ballot this fall.

According to the Secretary of State's website, candidates for state representative require certified signatures of at least 150 voters in the district.

The Melrose Ward 2 Alderman and a former Melrose School Committee member, Medeiros is one of four candidates seeking the 32nd Middlesex District's state representative seat currently held by Rep. Katherine Clark, D-Melrose, who is vacating the seat to run for state Senate. Medeiros faces two challenges for the Republican nomination from Eric Estevez and David Lucas. Melrose Alderman at-Large Paul Brodeur is currently the sole Democrat running for Clark's seat, which will be filled in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
