Melrose Man Charged In Trooper Attack, Held Without Bail
Nathan Aguilar, 18, is accused of attacking a state trooper with a box cutter. Prosecutors have not given a motive.

MELROSE, MA — The young Melrose man who prosecutors said attacked a state trooper with a box cutter before being shot was held without bail Friday. Nathan Aguilar, 18, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Aguilar was arraigned in his hospital bed. He was brought to the hospital with serious injuries after being shot at least once by the trooper police said he attacked on the highway.
Police said Aguilar drove up behind a trooper who was on construction detail on I-495 in Amesbury. Aguilar, who was wearing a mask, is accused of walking up to the trooper's cruiser and attacking him with the box cutter.

No motivation was given. Aguilar had no criminal record, WHDH reported.
