MELROSE, MA — An 18-year-old Melrose man was shot by a state trooper after the man stabbed the trooper in Amesbury, State Police said. Nathan Aguilar was wearing a mask when he pulled up behind the trooper working a safety detail on I-495 South, police said. The trooper shot at Aguilar, striking him at least once and seriously injuring him. Aguilar remains hospitalized. The trooper has been released from the hospital. No motivation was given for the alleged attack. No charges have been announced.
