Melrose Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects

Officers were called into action following a reported robbery in the area near the Oak Grove MBTA station.

Police in Melrose arrested a pair of suspects wanted for armed robbery near the Oak Grove MBTA Station.

Multiple Melrose officers responded to Washington Street, located on the Malden line, after learning of a reported armed robbery on Sept. 18, Chief Michael Lyle reports.

Malden police provided the Melrose officers with a description of the two wanted suspects. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted a known offender and second man, both of whom fit the provided description.

According to Lyle, officers approached Darian Almonte and the second suspect. They then searched them and found a firearm inside of a backpack. Malden police confirmed the men were responsible for the alleged robbery at Oak Grove.

The men were both taken to the Malden Police Station and will face armed robbery charges.
