Melrose Police, Kids Come Together For Pizza With The Chief
Ever wonder what a Melrose police officer doing the "floss" dance looked like? Wonder no longer.
The following is from the Melrose Police Department:
Chief Michael L. Lyle is pleased to report that he and other members of the Melrose Police Department joined children from town last week for Pizza with the Chief.
On Thursday, Sept. 26, members of the department hosted a pizza party with a group of 13 kids ranging in age from kindergarten to fourth grade at the inaugural Pizza with the Chief at Gabriella's Italian Pizzeria last night.

The pizza party was a prize awarded following a fundraiser at the Victorian Fair, and the winner chose to invite 13 kids and their parents and guardians to celebrate and get to know Chief Lyle and other officers.
In addition to Chief Lyle, Officer James Applegate and K-9 Officer Brian Trainer attended the event and brought along K-9 Nero as a surprise guest at the end of the party. The kids all took part in engaging conversation with the chief and officers, and also demonstrated “floss” dancing and asked numerous questions about police work.

"Pizza with the Chief was a lot of fun for all of us, and we were all glad to meet and spend time with kids from our community," Chief Lyle said. "I'm looking forward to this becoming an annual event and I want to thank Kim Upton and Rachel Jacobsmeyer for their efforts to make this event happen."
