Melrose Police Officer Receives Promotion

The newest Sargent was sworn in at City Hall.

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police Department celebrated the promotion of one of its officers Tuesday.

Alexander Barranco was promoted from Patrol Officer to Sargent. In addition to his eight years of service, Barranco has also worked as an instructor at the Junior Police Academy, a CPR instructor, and a field training officer.

Police Chief Kevin Faller and Mayor Jen Grigoraitis attended Barranco’s promotion ceremony at City Hall, where he was sworn in by City Clerk Tanji Cifuni.
