Melrose 'School Choice' To Be Discussed
The School Committee will hold a public hearing on the issue this month.

MELROSE, MA — The School Committee will hold a public hearing this month on whether to allow students from other districts to attend Melrose Public Schools. The public hearing on "school choice" will be Tuesday, Jan. 28, Superintendent Cyndy Taymore said.
With space at a premium in Melrose schools, the hearing doesn't mean the district is considering the move. The School Committee is mandated to vote on it, and thus the public hearing.
The district hasn't allowed this in some time, primarily due to the well-documented space issues.
