Melrose Tripped Up by Belmont, Falling 12-1

Red Raiders fall below .500 at 5-6.

It was a rough Friday for the Melrose High School baseball team, as Belmont tallied three runs in the first and eight in the second leading to a 12-1 loss on Friday at Brandon Grant Field in Belmont.

Melrose falls just below the tournament line at 5-6 while Belmont goes over the .500 mark at 6-5.

The afternoon started on a perfect note for the Marauders as the first three batters singled and scored on Marauders' clean-up hitter and pitcher Mike Richardson's double clearing the bases.

Red Raider Jon Botelho's double in the fifth scored Melrose's only run of the evening.
