Square One Mall To Close Amid Coronavirus Concerns
Simon Properties, which owns the mall, is closing all of its shopping centers in the U.S. in an effort to help slow the spread.
SAUGUS, MA — The Square One Mall will close at 7 p.m. Wednesday until at least March 29.
Simon Properties, which owns the mall, is closing all of its shopping centers in the U.S. in an effort to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus. Other Massachusetts malls that will close Wednesday include Auburn Mall, Burlington Mall, Cape Cod Mall, Copley Place, Emerald Square, Lee Premium Outlets, Liberty Tree Mall, North Shore Mall, Solomon Pond Mall, South Shore Plaza, The Shops at Chestnut Hill and the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets.
Simon said it made the decision after "extensive conversations" with federal, state and local health officials.

"The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is of paramount importance and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," Simon Properties CEO David Simon said.
