UPDATE: Steele House Residents Moving Back In Monday Morning
Most residents of the elderly housing complex have been living in hotels since a fire early Wednesday morning.

Residents of the Steele House elderly housing complex who were displaced by an will begin moving back in on Monday at 9 a.m., Mayor Rob Dolan told Melrose Patch tonight.
The MBTA will be providing buses to bring seniors back to the Steele House on Nason Drive from the Hampton Inn, Spring House Suites and Homewood Suites in Peabody,where the city housed them after the fire, Dolan said.

In an emailed press release sent on Monday morning, the Mayor's Office said that electricity and heat have been restored to the Steel House.
Because of damage during the fire, seven units remain offline at this time that still require repairs, the release said. However, those residents will still be able to move back into other vacant apartments within the Steele House for the time being.

Each of the 150-plus residents of the building will be given a $25 food voucher to through the Emergency Fund that is being distributed by the Housing Authority today, the release added.
The fire broke out on Jan. 25 in an apartment on the fourth floor of the east wing of the Steele House and was contained to one apartment. Everything beneath the fourth floor was flooded due to the sprinkler system triggered by the fire, Dolan said, possibly damaging the building's electrical system.
The MBTA brought in three buses to assist with the evacuation of the building, which which is owned and operated by the Melrose Housing Authority and has approximately 150 apartments. About 100 residents were put up in the hotels; the remaining residents stayed with family.
