Video: Band Giggers Rock Out The Last Day Of School
Kids participating in the Band Gig program through the Rec Department put on a final performance at the middle school.
Kids participating in this spring's session of Band Gig — offered through the Melrose Recreation Department and funded through The Victoria McLaughlin Foundation and the Ernie Boch's "Music Drives Us" Foundation — turned the last day of school at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School into a mini-Woodstock, playing a mix of modern and classic rock songs (although the absence of "School's Out" by Alice Cooper was curious). Band Gig brings together young musicians to form bands that get to record a CD in a real studio and play an end of the year concert. Another Band Gig session will be held this summer through the Recreation Department — check out the video below for some highlights from Thursday's performance.
