Greetings Melrosians!

Welcome to Melrose Patch. I'm the editor of this new online resource and I'm excited to continue covering Melrose, as I have for the past three-plus years.

So what is Melrose Patch?

First and foremost, we're a daily news site. Melrose Patch will be updated every day with news, announcements, events and more — even on weekends. You'll see me around the city with my laptop, camera and cell phone, updating Melrose Patch, our Twitter account and our Facebook page. I've also brought on board a tremendous lineup of contributors who know and care about Melrose.

Here's where I think Melrose Patch really shines: anyone who signs up to be a member, which is free, can post their own announcements and events. All you need is an e-mail address and either your name or the name of your organization.

Have an upcoming event or important meeting you want to promote? Post it on Melrose Patch; it'll be added to our calendar and our built-in map will make it easy for people to see where it's happening. Looking for volunteers for your organization or an event you're putting together? Post it on our site — volunteers have their own section! Did your son or daughter receive an academic or sports award? Looking for a lost pet? Did you get married? Are you a proud new grandparent? All this and more can easily be posted directly to Melrose Patch — you can even upload your own photos and videos! We also have a classified section where you can post free classifieds seeking roommates, advertising sublets, merchandise or services offered.

Melrose Patch is also your online portal to find information on local businesses and more in our Directory. Over the past few months, our team has visited businesses around the city, taking photos of every business and adding important information. Need to know a store's hours? What credit cards a particular restaurant accepts or what's on the menu? We have all that and more. We also have listings for city offices, schools, religious institutions and parks — all painstakingly compiled by myself and our team out in the city. You can also add your own business to our Directory, or claim a business as your own and add your own information.
