Bridge Work Setback: Central Street Bridge Reopening Delayed In Milford
The project was expected to be completed last week.
MILFORD, MA — The Central Street Bridge Project, which began in June, was expected to be completed last week, but unforeseen challenges have delayed the bridge's reopening.
The town's highway department shared an update that there have been material shortages, engineering changes and heavy rain that have pushed back the expected opening of Oct. 15.
One of those challenges was that a Department of Transportation-required membrane on the bridge deck failed adhesion testing. The highway department said that once the manufacturer finds a fix and the issue is resolved, the first coat of asphalt and curbing will be installed.
