Food Mold And Dirty Stovetops: Milford Health Inspections

These Milford inspections were conducted in August.

MILFORD, MA—The following inspection notes were supplied by the Milford Board of Health:

  • Tracey and Becky 96.5 E. Main St. 8-10-18 No violations here.
  • Blair House 20 Claflin St. 8-10-18 Violations here include the following. Dry goods storage room floor is sticky, some sort of liquid spill on the floor behind the convection oven, and clean white plastic shield inside the ice machine.
  • Carnivore’s 134 S. Main St. 8-9-18 Violations here include the following. Where the ice scoop is located take everything out and clean this area really well, clean exterior metal edge of the ice machine and inside white plastic shield due to mold and mildew buildup, clean interior metal edge of the convection of the convection oven, clean exterior surfaces of the fryers, floor in general needs a really good through cleaning through out the facility, lighting in the kitchen has to improve, in the two door cooler do not stack trays of food product on top of other food product none of which is covered, clean exterior of the knife rack esp. the top, clean the vent/duct system across from the hood system including the light fixtures( very dirty), there is a lot of hard cleaning to do here. A re-inspection is scheduled.
  • D’Angelo’s 195 E. Main St. 8-10-18 Break down clean and sanitize the food slicer, clean the flat top grill the stainless steel shelf underneath and the floor under this unit to the wall due to food debris.
  • D’Angelo’s 138 S Main St. 8-10-18 Time for new cutting boards at the sandwich prep station, and clean the top of the ice machine next to the ice scoop. Some sort of build up here.
  • Mother Hubbard 76 School St. 8-9-18 Salt(?) spill on one of the food storage shelves above the new stove.
  • Central Tavern 31 Central St. 7-24-18 Couple to a few floor tiles need to be replaced, change the liner for the shelves in the ware washing area, and back screen door is a mess needs repair and to fit properly.
  • Double Tree Hotel 11 Beaver St. 8-15-18 No violations here
  • The Crystal Room 49 Cedar St. 8-14-18 Clean the oven handles for Vulcan pizza ovens. This was done during the inspection.
  • Domino’s 2 Cape Rd. 8-14-18 One violation here. A couple of floor to wall tiles missing and damaged. Need to be replaced.
  • D.O.C. 50 Maple St. 8-14-18 Defrost freezer 4, faucet fixture for employee hand sink is loose needs to be tightened, and clean out stainless steel draw next to ice machine food debris at the bottom and put all equipment and or utensils through the dish machine.
  • Dairy Queen 190 West St. 8-13-18 In the basement at the bulkhead doors there is a small gap at the right side that could allow for the entrance of pest needs to be closed off, bag of onions cannot be stored on the floor in the basement, and cover 2 pails of apps., in the single door cooler at the main line.
  • Mango Tree 206 E. Main St. 8-15-18 Violation here include the following. In the walk in cooler clean the food racks due to food debris on the surfaces clean the fan guard dust and dirt and the floor esp. under the food racks where there is a build up what appears to be food mold and mildew needs a through cleaning, clean and disinfect the mop sink and the immediate floor area around it, in the dishwashing room clean and sanitize the three bay sink the floor area directly under it and put plastic utensils through the dish machine again and store with handles facing the user, at the storage shelving unit directly across from the three bay sink remove all equipment clean these wire racks and replace liner then replace equipment this area should look like new a lot of work to do here, dispose of wooden structure next to one of the coolers it cannot be sanitized, there are 2 prep coolers that are not used and haven’t been for a period of time they need to be removed from the restaurant, clean scour and scrub the multi burner stove top it’s a mess, clean exterior of the coke cooler and do not stack foods on top of each other that are not covered, change out replace most ceiling tiles in the kitchen, and the entire kitchen floor needs to be cleaned. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspected 8-22-18 and found most violations corrected. Stove top needs further cleaning and scrubbing, wooden structure at the coolers used for storage needs to be disposed of, two prep coolers currently not being used will be repaired and put back into service, ceiling tiles and floor surface still need work. Will re-inspect the weel of August 27th
  • Depot St Tavern 45 Depot St. 8-16-18 Violations here included the following. Food products that have cooled sufficiently in the walk in cooler need to be covered, turbo air cooler needs a visible thermometer and foods labeled, back screen door to the kitchen is extensively damaged and serves no purpose, char broiler needs scrubbing, cannot be any flies in the kitchen, do not store food containers on top of other food containers that are not covered, in the basement replace current wood shelf system with one that can be cleaned and sanitized, fix screen doors (2), hand sink at the bar is no to be used as a dump sink. A re-inspection is scheduled. Small prep area and ware-washing area is about 4 weeks out from completer renovation. Conversations with the owner assure a new completely renovated room. This is a must. Re-inspected 8-23-18 and found violations corrected. Spoke with the kitchen manger and expressed a need to step up the time line for ware-washing room renovation.
  • Garden Pizza 92 Prospect St. 8-23-18 Violation here include the following. Do not store bag of onions on the floor (corrected immediately), do not store food products in cardboard boxes on the floor inside the walk in cooler, clean ext. surface of the cooling unit including the fan guard inside the walk in cooler, ware-washing area needs a through complete cleaning organizing, clean shelving change the cardboard, and clean the floor under the stainless steel work surfaces, there is a lot of easy surface cleaning that can be done here.
  • Purchase St. Market 89 Purchase St. 8-21-18 Clean the white plastic shield inside the ice machine in the basement, keep the basement back door to prevent the entrance of pests, clean door guides and seals for the three door prep cooler.
  • Casa Brazil 112 Main St. 8-7-18 Ceiling tiles in bad shape need replacing (most of them), employee hand sink is a mess needs repair surface repair cleaning re-sealing, and other surface repair (it’s a mess), clean both stainless steel utensil draws and rewash all utensils and equipment, Marlite wall directly above hand sink is in a sever state of disrepair(peeling away from the wall has to be properly repaired, clean door guide4s for the dessert case, and the back screen door is very dirty does not fit properly and has to close tight. Re-inspected 8-21-18 and found violations corrected.
  • Acougue Vale Do Aco 132 Main St. 8-21-18 Continue replacing floor tiles where needed, storage area where the mop sink is located needs the be cleaned out organized and better taken care of, and need visible thermometer in both chest freezers.
  • Dunkin Donuts 8-20-18 350 E. Main St. Do not keep the back door open when no one is out there doing anything or a food delivery is not happening, and plastic utensils are to ne stored with handles facing the user.
  • Quick Mart 58 S. Main St. 8-20-18 One violation here. Fix ceiling tiles above the beer coolers. Takes away from the look of the store.
  • Quick Shop 134 E. Main St. 8-20-18 No violations here.
  • Dunkin Donuts 12 Medway Rd. 8-17-18 One violation here. Clean inside and front edge of the large Blodgett convection oven.
  • Dunkin Donuts 31 main St. 8-17-18 In the walk in cooler one bag of fruit left open and one tray of food at the very bottom not covered, in the walk in freezer several boxes of food product left partially uncovered, clean inside metal edge of the ice machine, clean floor areas esp. around equipment edges corners this is where food debris gathers.
  • 7-11 127 Main St. 8-16-18 Hand sink in the back room is not open and available for it’s intended use cluttered with other equipment, mop sink and surrounding area need cleaning and some repair this is a repeat violation, put a thermometer inside the walk in cooler, no paper towel for the hand-sink, several tested prepacked food products (sandwiches) tested in the open air self service display case held temps of 50 degrees or more too warm. Because of time temp abuse all were discarded most of the display case. It was determined that the lower shelves and less product close to the back could hold safe temps. A new display caser is on order.
  • K.F.C. 15 Medway Rd. 9-18-18 Clean area around the grease trap (floor tiles) from the front of the grease trap to where the Ecolab pest control device is located, time to change the oil for one of the fryers, men’s room toilet does not flush, and clean and disinfect the ladies restroom toilet.
  • Honey Dew Donuts 118 Prospect St. 8-30-18 Label the spray bottle stored on the wire rack containing food products with its contents (water) and post new B.O.H. permits.
  • Honey Dew 140 S. Main St. 8-30-18 One violation here. Paper towel dispenser for the hand sink at the customer service area does not work.
  • Top of the Court 189 Main St. 8-30-18 Nothing really happening here. Just a function room for events with a bar. There is no kitchen here. Manhattens no longer exists.
  • Fairfield Inn & Suites 1 Fortune Blvd 8-29-18 Soap dispenser for the hand sink is either empty or not working, do not store box of bananas on the floor in the kitchen, still need a person certified in C.P.R.
  • Criterion/Rise & Shine 375 Fortune Blvd. 8-29-18 No violations here.
  • Garden Restaurant 156 West St. 8-29-18 Do not store any bags of food (bag of potatoes), do not use paper towel to line utensil container just needs to be kept clean and sanitary, need to get under the flat top grill and clean it really good.
  • Hunan Gourmet 130 Main St. 8-30-18 Need to fix the floor at the threshold where the pork oven is, clean the floor area under the wok stations to the wall where grease and food debris are beginning to build, cover two foods in the coke cooler, floor tiles in various area need to be repaired, a lot of surface cleaning easy surface cleaning can be done here, need paper towel for the hand sink, and employee restroom needs paper towel. Keep employee restroom clean and sanitary.
