Help Make A Child's Holiday In Milford Through Stacy Middle School Gifting Program
Nearly 700 of the district's about 4,500 students asked for help this year.

MILFORD, MA - An annual program based at Stacy Middle School has helped make holidays special for children in the community for 10 years.
Aleksandra Gosz, a teacher at Stacy Middle School, helps run a Holiday Gifting Program with her colleagues Dawn Craig, Maddy Bonvino, and Sam Bonvino. Through the program, individuals can sponsor a child or a family during the holidays.
Any family with a child in Milford Public Schools is eligible for the program, which serves children aged 0 to 18. This year, nearly 700 of the district's about 4,500 students asked for help.

“We ask teachers, as well as their family and friends... to sponsor a child directly, sponsor a family, or just donate money or gift cards to the program,” said Gosz. "Any child that needs toys or clothing, we provide both."
Each child gets three or more toys, three or more gifts and two to three outfits or outerwear. The biggest request is usually warm winter clothing, Gosz said.

Gosz estimated that the total price to sponsor a child is around $100 to $150. She also said sponsors are asked to wrap the presents themselves, to take the burden off the family.
The gifts are dropped off by Dec. 12 and sorted. Families then pick them up on Dec. 13 and 14.

Craig started the program 10 years ago. Since then, the need has grown in the town.
The program helped around 500 students last year, and this year that number is 700. They still need gifts for 100 more students.
“We’re trying to spread the word as much as we can to make sure that no one goes without,” Gosz said. “This is quite possibly the only new things that these kids and families get all year.”
