International Fugitive Wanted In Upton Vehicular Homicide Caught: DA
Dias De Holanda, 19, fled to Brazil after the fatal crash in 2022 involving five teenagers.
MILFORD, MA — A 19-year-old Bellingham man who fled the U.S. after a fatal crash in Upton in 2022 was returned to Massachusetts on Friday to face multiple charges, including motor vehicle homicide.
Dias De Holanda was driving an Acura sedan in August 2022 with four people in the car when he crashed in Upton near the intersection of Glenview Way and Pearl Street. Jacob Osanya, who was the front passenger, died in the crash. Milford residents Gabriel Brandao, 19, Julio Da Silva, 18, and Abraham Seri were also injured, but survived.
Following the crash, De Holanda, a Bellingham resident at the time, fled to Brazil, which does not extradite its own residents. In December, state police detectives discovered De Holanda had traveled to the United Kingdom. De Holanda was arrested in London, and a judge granted his extradition to the U.S. in February. He flew back to Massachusetts on Friday under the watch of U.S. Marshals.
