Milford Godfrey Brook Reconstruction Underway
The town received $600,000 in funding for flood mitigation and climate resilience work at the subwatershed.

MILFORD, MA — A project to reconstruct a small stream in Milford is officially underway.
The Milford Highway Department announced it has begun a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Project to repair Godfrey Brook. The project, which is expected to be completed by spring, will repair the section of the brook from West Street to Water Street.
This comes after Milford received $600,000 in funding for flood mitigation and climate resilience work at the subwatershed. The Charles River Watershed Association and the town secured the grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration.

The town's highway department identified that the brook needed repair because the old stone walls were deteriorating, leading to overflow and significant downstream flooding during heavy rain events.

The project will design a new streambed and retaining walls to increase capacity and allow for unrestricted water flow.
It will not cause any traffic disruptions, according to the town's highway department.
