Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation Event Raises More Than $23K For Cancer Patients
The Annual Tree of Life ceremony took place on Dec. 8.

MILFORD, MA — An annual ceremony hosted by the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation raised tens of thousands for cancer care.
The Annual Tree of Life ceremony on Dec. 8 attracted about 75 attendees and raised more than $23,000 to support the Oliva Fund for Cancer Care. The money will fund resources for patients being treated at Milford Regional and at the Dana-Farber/Brigham Cancer Center, and for their families.
Attendees could donate by purchasing an angel, luminary or light.

This year's event honored Louis “Lou” Bertonazzi, according to UMass Memorial Health. Bertonazzi was a retired senator and lifelong Milford resident who passed away in May.

Members of his family attended, including his wife of 67 years, Barbara, his son David and daughter Lisa Bertonazzi-Valaouras.

“We knew him as humble, caring, kind and just a great a person,” said Edward J. Kelly, President of UMass Memorial Health - Milford Regional Medical Center. “Lou wouldn’t want us to dwell on his death. He would want us to continue to build on what we’ve done and do even better in the future.”
