Police Log: Woman Applying Makeup While Driving, Thefts from Cars Continue
The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 4
3:55 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said a sack of coins had been taken from his motor vehicle on Muriel Lane, about a month ago.
4:08 p.m.: The Stop & Shop pharmacy reported someone was trying to present a fraudulent prescription.
4:59 p.m.: A caller from state Department of Children and Families asked police to check on the welfare of children at an apartment. The father had initiated the call. The father is the subject of a restraining order, saying he must have no contact. The woman caring for the children checked out fine. Police are seeking a summons to charge William Brennan, 48, of 51 Exchange St., Apt. 19, Milford, with violating an abuse prevention order (via third party).
5:26 p.m.: A woman employee at TJ Maxx said a male customer was videotaping her. She would not give additional information to police.
6:28 p.m.: A woman reported her grandson was pushing her around after they had an argument about drug use. The grandson was gone when police arrived.
6:37 p.m.: A man walked into police headquarters and said he had had some property stolen from his hallway, at an apartment on South Main Street.
Tuesday, Nov. 5
8:19 a.m.: A caller on Prospect Street said a woman driving a dark colored SUV was putting on makeup while driving. Police could not locate the car.
8:21 a.m.: A caller said medications had been taken from his home on Congress Street. He identified a possible suspect.
10:19 a.m.: A woman told police she had been receiving harassing letters.
10:47 a.m.: A caller said a young man on West Street seemed to be disoriented. He had been walking around the area for a few hours. He was carrying a gym bag, too. Police spoke to him and he apparently checked out OK.
1:33 p.m.: A caller at Rite Aid Pharmacy reported a man was trying to refill prescriptions that did not belong to him.
2:20 p.m.: A woman told police she had been scammed. She said she was told she won a car, and all she had to do was send in some money cards. Police filed a report.
4:08 p.m.: Following a two-car crash near Big Lots on South Main Street, police were seeking a summons to charge Angelica Caguana, 25, of 45 Grove St., Apt. 2, Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
4:35 p.m.: A brush fire was reported in the woods off the Milford Upper Charles Trail, near the Water Company property.
4:48 p.m.: A two-car crash with injury was reported on Congress Street. Police received several calls. One woman complained of head injuries and was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.
7:15 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported on Main at Prospect streets. Police arrested Courtney M. Smith, 24, of 12 Phillips Dr., Bellingham, on charges of OUI liquor and possession of a Class E drug.
11:06 p.m.: Police responded to the Cedar Street juncture of I-495. A 48-year-old woman was taken into protective custody.
Wednesday, Nov. 6
8:14 a.m.: A caller on Plain Street said her car had been rummaged through overnight, and a purse was taken.
9:33 a.m.: A Milford Regional Medical Center nurse asked for help with a patient who was out of control.
10:21 a.m.: A person walked in to police headquarters who lives on Cedar Street and asked to speak to an officer about a theft from a motor vehicle.
12:23 p.m.: A Target employee called and said a shoplifter was in the store who was in the electronics section. This was the second time he'd been in the store that day. Police responded and arrested Joshua Schmidt, 39, of 144 Village St., Medway, on a charge of larceny over $250.
1:11 p.m.: A caller reported his child was abusing him. Police responded and restored peace.
1:15 p.m.: Firefighters responded to the Milford Water Company area again, for hot spots flaring up in the woods.
