Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Yasmin is a very dedicated young woman who has a clear vision for her future. Her long-term goal is to work as a nutrition counselor with young people and adolescents, especially athletes and those with anxiety disorders. To make this vision a reality, Yasmin not only participates in competitive athletics, but she has also been recruited through Children's Hospital Medical Center's comfort ability program, to speak about her personal experiences and struggles with anxiety, panic attacks and her gastrointestinal issues.

She completed a training program with the program advisor over the course of 4 months and successfully presented to a group of 10 - 17-year-old girls. She has been asked to continue presenting either virtually and/or in person. Yasmin has volunteered in many different programs, such as Project Just Because, (a program that supports the food and housing insecure in the area), Bethany House Ministries, (a program that supports men and women in and recently released from prison) and the Ladies Scarlet Hawks Basketball Camp (a program for girls in grades 4 - 8). Academically, Yasmin manages a rigorous course load that includes, an AP class each semester and all other courses are honors level courses. She has not received a grade lower than a B. At the age of 16, Yasmin shows incredible resolve and perseverance to be a stellar student, athlete and advocate.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Yasmin has a good "head on her shoulders" in that she values a good education, understands the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including maintaining healthy relationships with family, friends and key adults in her life.

Keep up the great work, Yasmin!
