8-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car In Milford, Suffered Serious Injuries: Report

MILFORD, MA — An 8-year-old girl was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Milford, the Milford Daily News reported. The child was a student at Woodland Elementary School, according to a statement obtained by the newspaper.

The crash happened at the intersection of Congress and West Spruce Streets. The child was crossing Congress Street near the Milford Town Park, the newspaper reported.

The child, who was transported by a medical rescue helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, was crossing with her father, but he was not hit by the car, according to the Daily News.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., the Milford Police Department shared a news release that all points of the intersection were closed. Police also urged residents to avoid the area while an investigation takes place. The road was still closed as of 7:30 p.m., according to the newspaper.

The newspaper reported that the driver is cooperating, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
