Teacher On Leave For Allegedly Recording Student In Bathroom

A Bellingham teacher has been placed on leave for allegedly recording a student in the bathroom, according to reports.

BELLINGHAM, MA—A teacher has been removed from the Bellingham Memorial School and placed on administrative leave after allegations surfaced that the teacher recorded a student in a faculty bathroom.

The teacher was removed from Bellingham Memorial Middle School on Nov. 9 shortly after district administrators received a complaint, according to a statement from Bellingham Public Schools Superintendent Peter Marano.

"This individual was immediately removed from the classroom when the district learned of the alleged conduct and we immediately contacted the police," Marano said in the statement. "We continue to remain committed to our efforts to ensure a safe learning environment for all students. Student safety is our highest priority."

Marano forwarded the report to the Bellingham Police Department immediately, and the Bellingham Public Schools has been cooperating fully in the law enforcement investigation. The school department is also investigating.

The Bellingham Police Department and school officials are conducting an investigation.
