Morning preschool classes are canceled.

Superintendent Robert Tremblay made the decision early Friday morning, after consulting with the Milford Highway Department.

The delay will push back the expected start time, and the bus schedule, by two hours.

In a phone interview at 7:20 a.m., Tremblay said the snowfall is expected to taper off mid-morning and the Highway Department felt the roads would be cleared for bus travel with the extra two hours.

In a conference call with other superintendents, he said he learned that other systems are either delaying by two hours, or cancelling Friday. Hopedale schools and the Mendon-Upton district are both having two-hour delays, he said, while Grafton, Holliston, Hopkinton and others are cancelled.

The decision is based on town resources, he said, and the ability to clear the streets for a particular community.

Parents who do not feel comfortable sending their child to school always have the choice to keep them at home, but schools will be opened, he said.
