Check Out the Ballot Before Hitting the Booth

The State Primary Election is Tuesday, see who's running for the various seats before heading to the polls.

Though the race for Governor won't officially heat up until after the primary with both Governor Deval Patrick and his challenger Charles Baker running unopposed on their respective tickets, there are a few contested seats that are sure to have voters showing up in force for the election on Tuesday, September 14.

Democratic Party

On the Democrat side, all three ballots have the same contested races. The Democratic ballot is highlighted by a race for Representative in Congress between incumbent Rep. Stephen Lynch of Boston and Milton resident Mac D'Alessandro.

The Second District Councilor seat is also contested with Dedham's Kelly Timilty and Milton's Robert Jubinville vying for the position.

For the Norfolk District Attorney, there are three Democrats battling for the spot including: Michael Chinman, former Assistant District Attorney from Milton; Joseph Driscoll Jr., former Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Attorney General from Braintree; and current State Senator Michael Morrissey, Quincy.

Also contested is the race for Treasurer between Steven Grossman, Newton, and Stephen Murphy, Boston.

The final Democratic race is for Auditor. Suzanne Bump, former Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development  is squaring off against Guy William Glodis, present Sheriff and former State Senator and Mike Lake.

Republican

The Republican ballot is also the same across the board, with a two-man race for Representative in Congress. Vernon Harrison of Braintree is facing Keith Lepor of Boston for the Republican ticket.

In the State Senate race, Robert Burr Jr., Canton, and Richard Livingston, Milton are going head to head. The winner will face unopposed Democratic incumbent Brian A. Joyce.

The final contested race on the Republican ticket is for Auditor. Framingham resident Mary Connaughton is facing Kamal Jain of Lowell.
