Contract Close But Still Not Signed For Ulin Rink Management
Lawyers for the DCR, Town of Milton and Curry College continue to look over a three-year permit for the college to manage the Ulin Rink. An agreement is expected by Monday.

Community members who were anxious to see a signed contract between Curry College and the Town of Milton for the management of the Max Ulin Memorial Rink on Wednesday night will have to wait until next week for the details.
At the Board of Selectmen meeting on September 2, the board scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, expecting to sign the three-year permit. At that meeting, last night, Town Administrator Kevin Mearn reported the contract was being combed over by counsels from the Department of Conservation and Recreation as well as the Town of Milton and Curry College, making for a long process.
"Where we are right now is you have three entities," Mearn said. "You have DCR, you have the town and you have Curry College."

The town and college have been in negotiations since the Selectmen voted 2-1 to award the permit to Curry on August 19. Mearn said he is confident a deal will be met before the September 13 meeting, which the Selectmen scheduled last night.
Though the negations have been long, Curry College has been preparing for the rink's September 15 opening day.

"As challenging as it has been, it's better than us trying to open the rink ourselves," said Selectmen John Shields.
The Selectmen will have an open meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday, where they expect to formally sign the contract. Their next regularly scheduled meeting is September 16.
