Firefighters Still Battling Four-Alarm Blaze at Historic Adams Street Home
Area firefighters have been fighting Morison-Meriman-Partridge House fire for more than two hours.
The four-alarm fire, which was reported at 11:14 a.m., at the historic Morison-Meriman-Partridge House continues to challenge firefighters from several municipalities.
Fire Chief Jack Grant said the first responders were unable to enter the home due to heavy smoke and flames on the first and second floors.
"This got going quicker than they could keep up with," Grant said.
The fire has now spread to the home's third floor.
Because the home is surrounded by trees, firefighters were forced to remove several trees to gain access.
Grant said the water main work along Adams Street could present a "nightmare scenario" as the department is tapping into a temporary water line. To this point, the water has not caused a problem.
It is believed no one was home at the time of the blaze, which was called in by a next door neighbor who saw flames.
The home is owned by Joe and Paula Killion.
