MILTON, MA — One of former governor Charlie Baker's final acts in office was to veto a measure to establish a 25-mph speed limit at a dangerous intersection in Milton. Baker vetoed the bill without explanation, and some state lawmakers are taking issue, Politico Massachusetts Playbook reported.

State Sen. Walter Timilty (D-Milton) said it was "disturbing" that Baker failed to sign a bill that "would have saved lives." Timilty plans to push the legislation again this session.

When he vetoed the bill, Baker told legislative clerks in a letter at the time: "I object to and do not approve the following legislation,” but did not provide any further explanation.
