Dr. Elaine McNeil-Girmai was appointed recently as the new prinicpal of Tucker Elementary School. Schools superintendent Mary Gormley announced the appointment on her <a href="http://blog.miltonps.org/?p=629" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">blog for the Milton School Department.</a> "I am very excited to return to Milton," wrote McNeil-Girmai in an email to Patch. "I received a wonderful education through the Milton school system that I believe set me up for success in college and beyond. "I have fond memories of my time at Tucker and I hope to create similar memories for the students while ensuring they receive a strong academic start to their education." McNeil-Girmai was the top candidate out of the 51 people who made applications for the principalship. She currently serves as assistant principal/academic director of the Empower Charter School in Brooklyn, N.Y. A graduate of Boston College, earning her master's degree from U-Mass. Boston and her Ph.D. from Loyola Marymount University, McNeil-Girmai was a second grade teacher at the Collicot Elementary School from 2001 to 2005.
