A Milton-based lawyer secured a $20.6 million award owed by Toys R Us following the 2006 death of a 29-year-old woman who succumbed to injuries after hitting her head on the deck of an inflatable pool. Ben Zimmerman, principal of <a href="http://www.sugarman.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sugarman and Sugarman PC</a>, tried the case, in which the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court upheld the finding of a jury that Toys R Us was "grossly negligent," according to a statement from the firm. Robin Aleo, 26, suffered severe neck injuries after an inflatable pool slide collapsed causing her head to strike the pool's deck in 2006. She later died from her injuries at a local hospital. Following the district court trial, a superior court judge denied Toys R Us's motion for a new trial and verdict reduction based on Toys R Us' misconduct. The Court also noted that Toys "R" Us's conduct "caused grievous physical harm, evinced an indifference to the safety of others, and involved repeated actions."
