Milton Runners Complete Boston Marathon on Milton Academy Track

A group of Milton marathoners ran one mile on Tuesday night as a symbolic finish for the Boston Marathon that some of them were unable to complete.

The Milton Academy track was dark and quiet on Tuesday night, when a group of runners appeared from Brook Road and two cars rolled into the parking lot. They were all connected by a love of running and a goal to complete 26.2 miles in the Boston Marathon.

The 17 people who showed up at the peaceful track were members of the Milton Running Club along with friends and neighbors. Several of the people ran the marathon on Monday, some finished and others did not. Some of the others were family and friends of the marathoners.

Regardless of their individual experiences when the pair of bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon finish line the day before, those at the Milton Academy track ran four laps, or one mile. When they finished the run they all clapped and congratulated each other.

One of the Milton Running Club members found a message on Facebook suggesting that runners that didn't complete the marathon finish the race at a local track at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The post was shared with other members and neighbors, and a core group was at Milton Academy, in the dark, to finish the run.
