Milton Yoga Team Fundraises for Yoga Reaches Out

Milton Yoga will participate in Yoga Reaches Out on April 28.

A team from Milton Yoga will be participating in Yoga Reaches Out, a daylong fundraiser at Gillette Stadium that benefits Boston Children's Hospital and Children's Tumor Foundation through yoga, for the second straight year.

While people can still join Team Milton Yoga, owner Sean McCarthy said the team currently has 14 members, who will pay the $25 entry fee and raise $250 for the event's selected charities. The team has raised over $3,000 already on the way to its $10,000 goal.

Yoga Reaches Out will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. The event, which is open to yogis of all skill levels, will feature yoga led by a variety of teachers including Power Yoga founder Bryan Kest.

McCarthy said about 500 people united to practice yoga in the Dana Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium last May.

"There was a lot of energy," said McCarthy of the positive vibes at Yoga Reaches Out.

The Milton Yoga team is also planning a fundraiser prior to the yogathon. The team will hold a bowling event at Lucky Strike Lanes, 145 Ipswich Street, Boston, on Thursday, March 28, at 6 p.m.

The bowling event is open to the public. Admission is $25 per person. The bowling alley at Jillian's Boston donated the lanes and Milton Yoga will give the proceeds to Boston Children's Hospital and Children's Tumor Foundation.

"We'll bowl and have some fun in the name of charity," McCarthy said.

The studio has recently added a Sunday morning pilates class that will run from March 10 to June 2. The class will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Milton Yoga will also offer a free guided meditation class on Saturdays from March 9 to June 8. The meditation class will be held at 2 p.m.

Milton Yoga, which is currently located at 777 Randolph Avenue will be moving to a new location at 10 Brush Hill Road this month.

When the business moves to its new space they will also begin a weekly Saturday Run Club at 10 a.m. followed by Yoga for Runners at 11 a.m. Yoga Bootcamp will be held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 5 to 5:55 a.m. at the Brush Hill Road location.
