New Lifetime Movie Based on Milton Academy Scandal

Lifetime's newest, "based on a true story" movie "Restless Virgins" may be a familiar story for those familiar with Milton Academy. The film chronicles a sex scandal at a prestigious New England prep school called Sutton Prep School, but is based on the New York Times best-seller by Abigail Jones and Marissa Miley about Milton Academy.

Jones and Miley, both Milton Academy graduates, penned the book, also titled "Restless Virgins," about a group of seniors during the 2004-2005 school year.

The film stars Vanessa Marano (Switched at Birth), Max Lloyd-Jones (Supernatural), Charlie Carver (Desperate Housewives) and Emmy Award winner Timothy Busfield (The West Wing).

"Restless Virgins" uncovers a world where privileged teens, thriving on exploitation and manipulation, run wild at a New England prep school. The film follows Emily (Marano), a scholarship student and the editor of the school newspaper who struggles with the daily stresses of high school and adolescence: fitting in, getting into the right college and trying to find love. But when Emily discovers five senior members of the lacrosse team madea sex tape with a classmate, she blows the lid off the controversy by releasing the tape virally. The scandal made national headlines that shocked America, leading the elite school to expel multiple students, including a U.S. Senator’s son.

"Restless Virgins" airs Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
