The Week Ahead

A look forward at the happenings in Milton the week of August 30.

Every Monday, Milton Patch will give you a rundown of what to expect in the week ahead. You'll find scheduled meetings and noteworthy events and maybe even where you'll find me this week.

The most anticipated day of the week, at least for children and their parents in the Milton Public Schools, is Wednesday. September 1, is the first day of classes across the district. The private high schools in Milton, Milton Academy and Fontbonne Academy, will hold off until next week, with their first days on Friday, September, 10.

At the Town of Milton Building this week, the Warrant Committee has 7:30 p.m. meetings scheduled for Monday and Wednesday. The committee is working on the Special Town Meeting on September 20, while keeping a normal schedule.

The Board of Selectmen also have a meeting scheduled this week. The Selectmen will convene at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Jon A. Cronin Conference Room.

Also coming from the Selectmen's office this week is an expected contract between the Town of Milton and Curry College for a three-year permit to manage the Ulin Rink. There is no date for the finalized agreement, but early last week Town Administrator Kevin Mearn anticipated the deal could be done this week. The rink will be open on September 14.
