Don't tell the kids, but this is their last weekend of freedom before the whirlwind of summer comes to an end and the grind of the fall begins. Milton Public School students will be filing back into the classroom on Wednesday, so here is a few suggestions on how to spend the final days of summer.

The upside of summer's final Friday, Saturday and Sunday is temperatures are going to be high, like they have been for the last few months. The warm weather and cloudless skies, make for the perfect conditions to visit Houghton's Pond for one last day at the beach.

If the Blue Hills Reservation's sandy shores aren't for you, a relaxing picnic at one of Milton's many parks could make for a relaxing afternoon. Andrew's Park, Turner's Pond or any of the other parks would be a good stopping point after visiting a local restaurant or store for classic picnic fare.

Finally, speaking of food, a stop at Brookwood Community Farm for some healthy, local vegitables. The stand, which is stocked with produce grown in the fields just feet away, is open Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. After all, every kid needs some brain food when the first day of school is just days away.
