Week in Review: November 29 to December 5
A look back at the happenings this week in Milton.

Before we start this week in review, let's begin by saying, Happy Chanukah, which began Wednesday and will conclude next Thursday. This week had several events, despite the fact that the Town Hall was relatively meeting-free.
The only major meeting in Milton this week was on Monday evening at the Trailside Museum. The DCR held a public discussion about the future of the at Houghton's Pond. The renovation of an existing baseball field will completely wrap up this summer, but the final three phases of the plan are still uncertain.
The manager of the project, Kevin Beuttell showed proposals for parking improvements, a new restroom facility and more work on the other fields in the area. The DCR has yet to secure the $1.9 million in funding needed to complete the work. Portions of the plan can be done as funding is made available.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Milton Fire Department joined several other departments to fight that sprung up in the Blue Hills along I-93. The next day, when at least one fire rekindled itself, a representative from the Office of the State Fire Marshal called the situation because several distinct fires were lit.
In the only live sporting event of the week, the Blue Hills Regional Vocational Technical School took on Shawsheen Regional Vocational Technical School in the Division 4 at Curry College. Shawsheen won the title in a 20-6 contest.

Though all of the Milton schools have finished their fall seasons, we had a chance to catch up with one Milton athlete who is looking ahead to her college career on the soccer field. , a senior striker at Milton Academy, missed most of her senior year because of a severe knee injury. The tough break hasn't slowed down the determined Milton resident who has recovered and fully expects to suit up for a Division I college next fall.
