Massachusetts Office on Disability Awards Natick $13,600 through Municipal ADA Improvement Grant Program

Natick receives award from the Massachusetts Office on Disability to purchase accessible picnic tables for community service public areas

Boston – Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) announced that the Massachusetts Office on Disability (MOD) awarded the Town of Natick $13,600 under the Municipal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Improvement Grant Program. Natick’s receiving this award signifies the Natick's dedication to implementing accessibility improvements across the Town.

The Municipal ADA Improvement Grant program is a competitive grant program that helps cities and towns improve access to public programs, services, and spaces for people with disabilities. The Massachusetts Office on Disability has awarded over $26 million to 224 cities and towns across the Commonwealth who demonstrated a sincere dedication to implementing needed accessibility improvements through applying to this program. This award will be used to purchase accessible picnic tables for Natick’s community service public areas including the Cole Recreation Center, Memorial Beach, Sassamon Trace Golf Course, and Mary Bunker Park.

“I was excited to see the Town of Natick receive this grant, as it will be used to help make our community’s public amenities more accessible for all our neighbors with disabilities in Natick,” said Representative Linsky. “I am grateful to the Massachusetts Office on Disabilities for organizing and distributing the funding for this award, and I am looking forward to seeing more of Natick getting out and enjoying its public resources through the positive impact this award will have on the Town.”
