MBTA Launches Reduced Fare Program: What It Means For Natick Riders
The program allows a greater swath of Massachusetts residents to use public transportation, officials said. Here's what to know.

NATICK, MA — The MBTA's long-awaited new reduced fare program will launch in September, allowing riders to apply for half-off rides on all T modes: Commuter Rail, bus, subway, ferry and The RIDE.
This is big news for qualifying Natick residents who use the local commuter rail stops.
Qualified riders will be able to begin applying for the program on Sept. 4 online and at five in-person locations. The MBTA Board of Directors approved the program in March after years of debate on how to make the system more equitable. The T expects the new program to increase ridership among long-income users by about 30 percent.

Under the program, qualified riders will be able to load special CharlieCards with cash for one-way fares at 50% off, plus $10 7-Day LinkPasses and $30 monthly LinkPasses.
"This is a meaningful step that allows all of the public that rely on mass transportation to use it, improving quality of life, boosting economic mobility, and connecting people and communities," MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng said in a news release.
