NATICK, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation recently awarded a total of $6.5 million to 28 municipalities and two of the state's regional transit authorities, including Natick.

These awards come as part of the Shared Streets and Spaces Program, which provides project funding to help cities and towns "design and implement changes to curbs, streets, and parking areas in support of public health, safe mobility, and community growth and revitalization."

"The program encourages quick implementation of projects to improve plazas, sidewalks, curbs, streets, bus stops, parking areas, and other public spaces in support of public health, safe mobility, and strengthened commerce," the state said, in a news release.
