Auditions, elementary school open houses and the Newton Historical Commission meets.

1. Newton Historical Commission. The Newton Historical Commission will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in room 202 at . This is a rescheduled meeting after the commission did not have a quorum at the Aug. 21 meeting. The commission will consider requests to demolish residences at 27 Considine Road, 25 Sheffield Road, 17 Rosalie Road, 54‐56 Elm St., 416 Newtonville Ave., and 1081 Washington St.
2. Open houses, welcome days. Several Newton elementary schools will open their doors early today to welcome in new parents and students for meet-and-greets and open houses. will hold a "welcome time" at 10 a.m., will hold an open house starting at 11:30 a.m., will hold a Kindergarten open house starting at 2 p.m. and will hold a visiting hour at 1:30 p.m. For more details, check out the elementary schools' websites.
3. Auditions. The at for its upcoming production of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters. Auditions will be held from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. The theatre group is looking for men and women ages 20 to 50. Actors should prepare a monologue approximately two minutes long, preferably not from the show. There is a possibility the audition will include cold readings from the script and a short interview.
