Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 29
Newtonville Village Day, a Walk/Bike Week event in Nonantum and "A Concert to Remember."

1. Newtonville Village Day. The Newtonville Village Day and Jazz Festival will take place today from 10 a.m. - dusk on Walnut Street between Austin Street and Washington Park. The event will include amusement rides, climb-a-truck in the Austin Street parking lot, face painting, free arts and crafts, free jazz performances, craft booths, informational booths and Sidewalk Sam will create a masterpiece. Plus, check out the Newtonville Flea Market in the Austin Street lot.
2. Medication take-back day. Turn in your unused or expired medication today at Newton Police Headquarters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
3. Walk/Bike Week event in Nonantum. The Nonantum Neighborhood Association is hosting a Bike-Walk Fun Fall Day at Pellegrini Park today from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event will include a bicycle giveaway, a clinic for bicycle repair, lectures on bike safety/etiquette and the Best Apple Pie in Nonantum contest.

4. A Concert to Remember. Ben Speaks Louder Than Words, a 501c(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth, will hold its third annual "A Concert To Remember" today at the First Baptist Church from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. The concert will provide funds for the organization¹s program C.A.R.E. (Creating Alternative Resources for Expression). Admission is a voluntary, but suggested, donation of $20-25.
5. Museum day. Historic Newton and the Jackson Homestead and Museum is participating in Museum Day, an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine, in which museums across the country open their doors for free. To get in to the museum, or any museum participating, print a Museum Day ticket online.
