NEWTON, MA — Inspired by a certain famous former YMCA camp councilor, the West Suburban YMCA in Newton gave a shout out to Newton native and actor John Krasinski, of "The Office" fame, by making its own version of Krasinski's popular "Some Good News" weekly internet show.

In the Y's version of, "Y Good News," YMCA president Jack Fucci, much like Krasinski, acts as the news "anchor," reporting the good news happening in the Newton community.

Highlights include a tribute to first responders, a socially distanced surprise birthday, a chat with City of Newton employee Dana Hanson, and a Zoom performance by a talented ukulele-playing 11 year old.

And while Krasinski, himself, doesn't make a live appearance, the Y got its hands on some photos of the young Newton native when he was a counselor at YMCA Camp Chickami.

"The project was a love letter to Newton in many ways, focusing on stories from individuals and families that live and work in Newton," said Meghan Missett of the West Suburban Y.
