Madeleine M. (Collins) Doherty, 97, of Newton

Madeleine M. (Collins) Doherty, 97, lived in Newton for 85 years and was a 1932 graduate of Newton High School. She passed away peacefully on August 13 at her beloved summer cottage on Drakes Island, Maine. 

According to her obituary, Doherty was a 1936 graduate of Radcliffe College and worked at New England Telephone for 10 years. She was active with , book clubs, Newton Church Women United, the Roxbury Food Cupboard, Rosie's Place and the Newton Christmas Service Committee.
