Update: As of 9:05 a.m., all lanes are open amidst heavy morning traffic, after a car fire closed westbound routes near Newton, state police said. A morning car fire on Interstate 90 closed lanes in the midst of Monday morning's commute. A Mass. State Police social media post said the flaming vehicle is in the westbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike near Exit 16, near Newton. As of 8:30 a.m., the middle, right and breakdown lanes remain closed. State Police said the Newton Fire Department was en route to the vehicle, which was fully engulfed in flames.
