Newton Firefighters, Police Salute Fallen Worcester Firefighter

Firefighters and police put their vehicle lights on and stood watching atop the Pike's bridges as the body of the fallen firefighter passed.

NEWTON, MA — If you happened to drive over one of the several bridges in Newton that span the Mass Pike this morning around 9:45 a.m., you likely saw police cars and fire trucks with their lights flashing.

This morning, a Worcester firefighter died and three other firefighters were injured battling a four-alarm fire in an apartment building in Worcester.

As Lt. Jason Menard's body was escorted from Worcester to Boston to the medical examiner's, firefighters and police in communities along I-90 stood in salute over bridges draped in flags leftover from Veteran's day.
