Newton Firefighters Put Out Brush Fire Near Wells Avenue

Fire officials called forestry officials to come evaluate, according to early fire scanner radio reports.

NEWTON, MA — It's not clear just what started it, but firefighters were working Thursday afternoon to put out a brush fire at the edge of forest behind 125 Wells Avenue.

Around 4:30 p.m. officials said they were able to put out the main body of the fire, and were calling forestry department officials to come evaluate.

Two engine trucks a ladder truck and a command vehicle were working to make sure the fire was completely out, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
