Newton Police Log: Man Caught Shoplifting After Throwing Box into Bushes and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Newton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

June 12:

A woman came into the Finer Consigner at about 2:25 p.m. and a security video shows her taking a yellow Louis Vitton bag off the shelf, walk to the back of the store and put it into a tote bag, Newton Police said. She then took an orange Prada bag and put it into the tote. The suspect is described as a white woman with blond hair in her early 20s.

A bottle was thrown through a window of Dunkin Donuts on Beacon Street at about 9:35 p.m., Police said. A juice bottle was found in the back room of the business and broken glass from a small window. No suspects were spotted in the area.

A 2008 Honda Civic was broken into while it was parked in the driveway of a home on Anthony Road, Newton Police said. The owner parked the car the previous evening and came out in the morning and discovered her Gucci pocketbook was missing, containing a debit card, a checkbook, a credit card and other items. The car had been left unlocked, Police said.

A 29-year old man from Newton will be summonsed to court on a charge of shoplifting, Police said. The man allegedly went into Solstice at about 4 p.m. and took a pair of Prada sunglasses.

Police arrested a man from New Orleans who allegedly took some shoes from Bloomingdales, Police said. A woman told an officer that she saw a well-dressed black man thrown a black briefcase into some bushes on Beacon Street. The officer located the item, which turned out to be a box. Then a man fitting the description was located in the area. Christopher Reed Rashard, 27, of 1931 Copernicus Street in New Orleans, was arrested on a charge of larceny of over $250.

Four watches were taken from the Coach Store in the Chestnut Hill Mall, Police said. An employee spotted a woman in take four watches and put them in a navy handbag and then leave the store. The employee followed the woman out of the mall and saw her get into a white sedan, which then drove off westbound on Rte. 9, Police said. The woman is described as being around 40 years old, blond, weighing about 150 pounds and standing 5-foot-6. She wore a white coat and blue jeans.
