School is canceled Tuesday in Newton. It's the first snow day of the season.

NEWTON, MA — Newton Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 3, following Boston, Brookline and Waltham's lead. It's the first snow day of the school year for students.
The Newton Public Schools, City Hall, the Library and Senior Center will be closed on Tuesday.
Trash and recycling will be collected on schedule on Tuesday; yard waste collection, however, is postponed for one week.

Students and parents across Massachusetts had their eyes on school closings lists beginning Sunday, but Newton only delayed the start date Monday.
Tuesday's closure comes as the second burst of snow Monday night into Tuesday promises to dump between 4 inches and a foot of snow on the region.
