NEWTON, MA — Newton City Councilor Becky Walker Grossman is running for the 4th District House seat held by Joseph Kennedy. She's among the first to officially declare she's throwing her hat in the race since Kennedy announced he is running for Ed Markey's seat in the U.S. Senate.

Walker Grossman became an assistant district attorney in Middlesex County after graduating from Harvard Law School. She is the daughter-in-law of former Democratic National Committee Chairman Steve Grossman and worked on his 2010 campaign for state treasurer.

Walker Grossman has lived in Newton with her husband, a Newton native, for some nine years. She has two young children who are "fourth-generation Newtonians," who attend Ward Elementary School.
